Take note – story published 2 years ago

Rainfall will continue in Latvia on Thursday, turning into snow in the evening according to weatherman Toms Bricis.

There will be a strong south-southwest wind that will turn to west-northwest in the afternoon. Gusts across the country may reach 15-20 meters per second, in the south-west of Kurzeme 22-25 meters per second.

Such winds will carry little damage, mainly by breaking down individual trees or their branches.

Air temperature will reach +4 C to +8 C by the middle of the day but in the afternoon it will be cooler, and in the evening the temperature will be near zero, so the roads will be icy in many places.

Water levels have already started to rise in Kurzeme, Zemgale and Vidzeme and will continue to rise in the coming days, so these regions have the yellow alert of flooding of rivers and lower areas is in force.

In Riga, too, there will be large puddles on the streets, some streets may be flooded and difficult to drive.
