In the early morning in Dobele, temperatures slipped to -4.7 degrees Celsius, beating the April 11 record of 1985.
The lowest air temperature in the LVGMC observational network was -5.8 C in Zosēni, while according to data from Latvian State Roads on the A2 highway between Garkalne and Vangaži, the air temperature fell to -7.3 C.
Sunday evening in Daugavpils the air warmed to +17 C, for the first time this year.
On Monday the air will warm up to +14 to +18 C in Latvia, cooler weather is expected in Kurzeme with +9 to +14 C.
Cool weather will return on Tuesday, but air temperatures will rise in the second half of the week.
