This week's weather in Latvia: cloudier and colder

Take note – story published 5 years ago

Following a glorious weekend across Latvia, the start of the working week will coincide with a notable downturn in climatic attractiveness, according to forecasters.

Monday, a new cyclone will be emerging over the Baltic states and Finland, which will bring cold air to our region, and heat will gradually ebb away Latvia, with only occasional sun. Rain is expected in many places on Monday.

The air temperature in Latvia will be below +10 degrees Celsius throughout the week, with the thermometer a few degrees below zero at night.

At the beginning of the week, the weather will be determined by a cyclonic weather system, so the sky will be mostly cloudy, with a little rain and even sleet expected.

The second half of the week is likely to be dominated by an anti-cyclone and northern and north-easterly winds. The weather will become drier and sunnier but also cooler at night. According to the current forecast, air temperatures are generally expected to be within the range of -6 C to + 10 C.

Insufficient rainfall and low air humidity will continue to dry the ground, aggravating farmers' crop worries. Night frosts could also take their toll on new shoots.
