This week will see a return to the typical Latvian summer mode, with temperatures in the lower 20s and changeable weather, according to forecasts by LSM's weatherman Toms Bricis.

The peak air temperature in the afternoons will be +19 to +24 C, Friday and Saturday in places up to +26 C and at night +12 C to +17 C.

Local rain, thunderstorms, possible hail will be encountered daily, especially on Wednesday and Thursday, in many places throughout the country. Friday promises to be sunnier.

The current long-term forecasts show that Atlantic cyclones will dominate the region in the second half of the month, so weather will be changeable with sunnier and rainier days, but no long-term drought or rain.

The average air temperature of August will be close to the climatic norm, so the temperatures of the three months of the calendar summer will have reached a record: summer 2021 will become the hottest in history,

The hottest summer in Latvia was in 2010, when the average temperature of June-August was 18.4 C. The average temperature so far this summer has been 19.8 C.
