Unusually warm end of year expected in Latvia

Toward the New Year's Eve, rains, strong wind and heat records are possible in Latvia, according to current weather forecasts.

On the second day of Christmas, December 26, precipitation will move across Latvia from the southwest, and on the night to December 27, a blizzard turning into rain is expected throughout the country. The southeast wind will begin to intensify, with gusts of up to 12-17 meters per second, coastal to 22 meters per second.

As of Tuesday, air temperatures will mainly be above zero, reaching +6 C in Kurzeme. Heavy rain is expected, and ice will occasionally form on the roads.

Air temperatures can reach up to +10 degrees next weekend, a strong wind and rain are likely.

There is a probability of beating monthly heat records in early January. Unusually warm weather is expected throughout Europe.
