At the beginning of the week temperatures will fluctuate around zero before rising significantly in the second half of the week, according to forecasts by LSM's weatherman Toms Bricis and the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

On Monday and Tuesday the air temperatures will range from -2 C in the east of Latvia to +3 C on the coast. The sky will be overcast, and roads will still be slippery.

As of Wednesday, temperatures will gradually rise, ranging between +3 C and +8 C. No significant rain or snowfall is expected.

Next week, it will get colder again but not as cold as at the beginning of December, according to long-term forecasts.
