Warm week to be followed by chilly Easter in Latvia

Take note – story published 3 years ago

This week the weather in Latvia will present some striking contrasts, with balmy temperatures f around +20 Celsius on Tuesday followed up by a chilly and possibly snowy Easter weekend.

After an overcast Monday morning the weather will be mostly sunny and warm, in the afternoons the air temperature will warm up to between +12 C and + 17 C, and on Tuesday in some places could even tip the thermometer over the + 20 C mark. But dampening any temptation to go in search of a deserted stretch of beach, it should be noted that coastal areas will be considerably colder at only around +10 C. Night-time temperatures will see the air cool down to 0 to + 6 degrees.

On Thursday things will start to cool down again, with the temperature reaching only +7 C to + 12 C in most of the country, though eastern in Latgale could still enjoy temperaturs of up to +15 C. Thursday will also likely bring rain showers to many places.

During the Easter holidays - from Friday to Monday - the weather will be much cooler, with a little frost expected at night, while during the day the temperature will mostly be within the +4 C to + 11 C range.

There will not be much rainfall in general, but at times both rain and even snow are expected. A layer of snow may form temporarily, giving the possibility of a white Easter in partial compensation for a Christmas last year that was notable for its lack of whiteness.
