Warm, wet weather week awaits in Latvia

Take note – story published 2 years ago

After a pleasantly sunny few days in many parts of the country, the new working week will bring with it lots of cloud and considerable quantities of rain, according to forecasters.

Heavy rain is expected in western and central parts of the country on Monday, though as the day progresses the clouds may thin out, allowing occasional glimpses of sunshine which may be more sustained during the evening. Rain will gradually move east, so Latgale and eastern Vidzeme will likely get a wetter evening than Kurzeme.

The strongest rain, in places with thunder, is expected in the middle of the day and in the afternoon in the central and eastern parts of the country.

Only coastal districts of Kurzeme are likely to experience a day without precipitation.

The prevailing wind will be a slow to moderate south-to-southwesterly one.

Maximum air temperatures will be from +16 Celsius to + 21 Celsius inland, colder on the coast of Kurzeme at +11 C to + 14 C.

In Riga, there will be rain showers until the middle of the day, in the afternoon the sky will be clear, and the sun will shine with a maximum afternoon air temperature of +18 C.

As for the rest of the working week, it will be fairly similar to Monday's weather: fairly warm but frequently wet. On Thursday the wind will get gustier. A little more sunshine is expected next weekend.
