Warmest March 1 in history recorded in Latvia

This March 1 has become the warmest in history, reaching +13 degrees Celsius in Mērsrags, according to information from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LĢVMC).

Previously, the highest air temperature was recorded March 1 in 1959, when it reached +12.8 C in Rīga.

Local heat records have also been reached in Pāvilosta, Kolka and Rūjiena. 

The weather will remain sunny tomorrow but a sharp drop in temperatures is expected from Thursday.
