Warmish weather week in Latvia, but end of October will bring a change

Take note – story published 4 years ago

Another very mild but rather wet week is in store over the next few days in Latvia, though the end of October will arrive with significantly colder temperatures, according to LSM weather forecaster Toms Bricis.

Monday will bring rain to most of the country, though by afternoon rainfall should be constrained to Zemgale and Latgale regions and sunshine may occasionally break through the clouds.

Maximum air temperatures will be +10 Celsius to + 14 C.

Tuesday will be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures in many areas of Zemgale, Riga and Latgale reaching +17 C or + 18 C, far above sesonal norms, while in the rest of the country +12 C to + 15 C can be expected.

Wednesday to Friday will be like one long, dreary day; cloudy, rainy, and with daytime temperatures of around +10 C to +15 degrees.

Therefore it may come as almost a relief when a strong cyclonic system arrives at the weekend bringing strong wind, more persistent rain and even some sleet and snow. Temperatures will drop over the course of the weekend, nearing freezing point on Sunday night so that next week is likely to begin with a frost and possibility of more snow.
