Take note – story published 3 years ago

Following a picture-postcard white Christmas in much of Latvia, the end of 2020 and start of 2021 will see the weather in Latvia will become warmer, with frequent precipitation, according to the latest forecasts.

Following a windy and chilly Monday, the warmest weather is expected on Tuesday, when the air temperature in the whole country will be a few degrees above zero, while following days will see it see-sawing either side of freezing in the -3 Celsius to + 3 Celsius range.

In the middle of the week the sky will clear at times, with occasional rain and sleet.

Current forecasts show that on New Year's Eve and in the first days of the new year, due to a new cyclone, mostly cloudy weather is expected, and in many places, mainly in the eastern part, precipitation is expected - more sleet and rain. A slow wind will prevail and the air temperature will remain similar to the middle of the week.

Ice on roads will continue to form, demanding particular care and attention from drivers.

There should be no heavy or prolonged rainfall on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, and the air temperature is expected to be in the range of -1 C to + 3 C, giving a fairly mild start to 2021.
