Weather week in Latvia starts with autumn, ends with summer

Take note – story published 4 years ago

Many parts of Latvia will start this week with autumn-like conditions, but in the second half of the week it will become drier and warmer, according to forecasters.

Monday starts with heavy rain in Kurzeme region in the west of the country but sunshine in eastern Vidzeme and most of Latgale.

From Monday to Wednesday the nights will be cool, with temperatures in the range of +1 Celsius to + 7 C degrees, and there may be light frosts in some places. Daytime temperatures will be mild but not particularly warm, between +15 C and + 20 C, but coastal areas will be much cooler with the air temperature reaching just +10 C to  + 15 C.

The winds will be from a northerly direction until Thursday, and occasionally gusty.

As the weekend approaches though, temperatures will rise and the wind will move to come from from the east and southeast, bringing markedly warmer air. At night it will not be colder than +6 to + 11 C, and during the days the air temperature will swell up to +21 C to + 26 C degrees, though again, several degrees cooler on the coast.

During the weekend, the weather will be sunny, but there is also a risk of local thunderstorms.
