The week will start with the very rainy weather experienced over the weekend, with more heavy downpours in the middle of the week, and warmer but still damp weather again next weekend.
On Monday and Tuesday, heavy rain is expected, particularly in Vidzeme region, amounting to 50-70 liters per square meter, which is the norm for the whole month. Due to the ongoing rain, water levels in rivers will rise sharply, vulnerable low-lying areas could see flooding, and in some places dirt roads will be difficult to travel on due to puddles and the possibility of mudslides.

On Wednesday and Thursday the weather will become colder, with temperatures in North Vidzeme around zero during the night and +3 Celsius to + 8 C in the rest of the country both at night and during the day. Drivers, especially in Vidzeme, will need to be careful as the roads will become slippery. Sleet and snow may replace the rain, according to the fluctuations in air temperature.
During next weekend it is expected that, slow southerly and easterly winds will bring warmer air to Latvia, increasing temperatures by 1-3 degrees Celsius, and although rain will continue to fall across the country, it will be lighter and less persistent.
