Weekend will bring some respite from heat in Latvia

Air temperatures in Latvia will gradually decrease over the weekend, according to forecasts by weatherman Toms Bricis.

Friday will be steaming hot with temperatures exceeding +30 C throughout the country; it will also be sunny.

The following night, in many parts of Kurzeme and places in the central part of the country, temporary rainfall and thunderstorms are expected. Locally, thunderstorms can be strong, with intense lightning and hail. Temperatures will range between +14 C and +19 C.

On Saturday, temporary thunderstorms will affect mostly Vidzeme, Latgale and Sēlija, but it will no longer be as hot as the maximum air temperature will range between +22 C and +27 C, around +20 C in the west of Kurzeme.

Sunday night will be rainy and thunderstorms are expected in many places. The minimum air temperature at night will be between +12 C and +17 C, maximum during the daytime +19 C to +24 C.

Temperatures will rise again at the beginning of the new week, at above 25 degrees on Tuesday, but rains and thunderstorms are expected on Monday and Tuesday. It will be cooler again in the middle of the week.
