Winds will gust to strengths between 13-18 meters per second throughout most of the land, with western Kurzeme province seeing stronger winds at 20-23 meters per second.
Mostly in Kurzeme, there will be snow and wet snow, mixing briefly to blizzard conditions before turning mostly to rain.
Drivers on the country’s roads must beware of favorable conditions for the formation of black ice and low visibility.
Low overnight temperatures will be between -4 and +1 degrees Celsius.
Skies during the day Thursday will clear at times, letting the sun through occasionally between bouts of light rain and wet snow.
Winds by Thursday will have settled down a bit to 15 meters per second on the coasts.

By Saturday the epicenter of the storm will be back above the Baltic Sea, whipping up winds back to 30-35 meters per second on the open water.
Overnight from Friday to Saturday there are several centimeters of snow expected to accumulate in Vidzeme and Latgale provinces, while the rest of the country could see just very wet conditions, with strong winds prevailing between 20-24 meters per second on the Kurzeme coast.
On Sunday and throughout the extended forecast into next week, windy and unstable weather conditions should stay in the region until the winter holidays.
