Latvian rugby ace on trial with top English side

Latvian sports stars tend to be associated with hockey or more recently - thanks to Kristaps Porzingis - basketball. But one man is looking to break the mold by joinign the granite-hard ranks of England's rugby league players. 

Mikus Ozols is currently on trial with famous Super League side St Helens, Sky Sports reported Wednesday.

Rugby league is the 13-man version of the game popular in northern England, which has important rule changed compared to Rugby union, the 15-man code of the game.

Ozols has the impressive claim that he has represented his country at both codes and helped found the rugby club in his hometown, Sigulda where rugby posts make an unexpected sight besiide the railway line at a town more readinly associated with winter sports. 

Rugby league players are renowned for their toughness and high levels of physical fitness.

St Helens is one of the oldest and most successful sides in the sport's history.
