Porzingis starts season with star game

Latvia's NBA star Kristaps Porzingis scored a game-high 31 points in his season opener on October 19, grabbing 12 rebounds and assuming a leading role in a game the New York Knicks lost to Oklahoma City Thunder 84:105 (24:27, 18:26, 17:26, 25:26). 

He was on the court for 38 minutes, blocked a shot and made an assist. He scored 9/19 two-pointers and 2/6 three pointers and was precise in 7/9 free throws. He also made seven fouls.

Porzingis was the top scorer of the game, which saw the Knicks pitted against Carmelo Anthony, who was the leader of the New York team last year. Anthony scored 22 points. 

The game saw Porzingis move close to his career-high of 35 points.
