The Latvian national airline airBaltic transported 1.911 million passengers during the first half of this year, 51.7% more than last year, according to LETA estimates.

The number of flights performed increased by 19.9% to 20,290.

Representatives of airBaltic said that the airline transported 454,800 passengers in June, an increase of 30%, and carried out 4,160 flights, 19% more than in June 2022.

airBaltic Board Chairman Martins Gauss said that the increase in passenger numbers is mainly due to the fact that recently launched flights on 20 new routes from airBaltic bases have led to a high interest of travelers and have provided passengers with more travel opportunities.

According to LETA's estimates, airBaltic transported a total of 3.34 million passengers last year, 2.1 times more than a year earlier, but 33.8% less than before the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019.

In the first half of last year, airBaltic transported 1.312 million passengers and carried out 16,920 flights.
