Kadžulis, who has been accused in the case of fraud in the procurement of the Central Election Commission, claimed to Latvian Television that in 2014, Kampars asked to influence the Saeima elections.
Kampars has previously called these claims by Kadžulis absurd and false.
The former politician refrained from commenting further on the lawsuit filed against the head of “SOAAR” so as not to generate additional publicity, he said, for the misinformation and its distributor.
As reported earlier by LSM, Renārs Kadžulis, the head of the election software provider SOAAR, on the Latvian Television program "What's Happening in Latvia?" on April 24 claimed that during the 2014 Saeima elections, Artis Kampars, the then Secretary General of Unity, had urged the head of SOAAR to falsify the election results.
Kadžulis had also claimed he had reported the incident to authorities, however, the named authorities said they had no such information.
Meanwhile, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) was assessing whether there was covert campaigning against the party association New Unity, after New Unity's request.
KNAB chief Jēkabs Straume said in an interview with LTV's “Morning Panorama” that no alleged covert campaigning was identified.
“Yes, there was such a filing, but we didn't find anything like that there. (...) We did not establish within the scope of CPCB competence, maybe it is a task of another institution, but I will not be able to comment on it,” Straume said.
New Unity announced suspicions of covert campaigning two days after the head of information technology (IT) company SOAAR announced an attempt by former Unity general secretary Artis Kampars to influence the results of the Saeima elections held in 2014.
