Scotland is delighted to have Latvian immigrants and would do everything that's possible to allow them to stay if the UK leaves the EU. The country will also make it easier and less expensive to apply for Scottish citizenship if the country gains independence, Stuart McDonald, a Scottish MP and member of the Scottish National Party, told LSM's Kira Savchenko.
The scenario of the BBC-produced “World War Three: Inside The War Room” film, in which Russia carries out a full-scale invasion of Latvia, is essentially unrealistic, Ian Bond, an actor in the film, as well as the Director of Foreign Policy at Centre for European Reform and former British Ambassador in Latvia, told LSM's Kira Savchenko.
“Russia is perfectly capable of invading the Baltics tomorrow,” and the Baltic States should do a better job of protecting themselves, according to an exclusive interview with Paul Ingram, executive director of the British American Security Information Council (BASIC) by LSM's Kira Savčenko in London.
Ian Bond served as the United Kingdom's ambassador to Latvia from 2005-7 and was a British diplomat for 28 years.
Today he is director of foreign policy at the Centre for European Reform (CER) a London-based think-tank that says it is "not affiliated with any government, political party or European institution" and is funded by private donations.
