120 movies to be showcased at Riga International Film Festival

The 2017 Riga International Film Festival is taking place September 7 - 17 with 120 movies in 9 programs being screened at three movie houses on Elizabetes street. 

Several events, including the opening ceremony and the handing of  will be livestreamed on Lsm.lv and replay.lv. 

The festival will be opened by Sound We See: Riga with 24 local artists collaborating to shoot a short film about Riga accompanied by Platons Buravickis' music.

Among special highlights are the Baltic feature film competition, the festival selection featuring recently premiered works of art, as well as the ArtDocFest Riga that has migrated from neighboring Russia with renowned filmmaker Vitaly Mansky chairing the event. 

Meanwhile the In Kino Veritas program will offer a retrospective of B-movies. 

With the abundance of movies and events, it may be difficult to choose what film to see. 

However, the organizers have helpfully divvied it up into nine categories that might make it easier to choose.
