Three for the Weekend: Music and film

Take note – story published 6 years and 2 months ago

This weekend, we offer you to go listen to some music.

Fu Manchu in Riga

The stoner rock outlet Fu Manchu are performing on Sunday, 7 p.m. at the Melnā Piektdiena club with tickets still available.

Up-and-coming Latvian music

Polifauna, a classy and mellow band evoking low-key urban angst, are releasing their first album, You Look Like a Lost Soul. The opening concert takes place on the evening of March 13 at club ONE ONE in Riga. (Not a weekend event, but worth marking all the same.)

B-Movies in Riga

"A nuclear family on a road trip gets trapped in a mansion maintained by polygamous pagan cult."

The Aleponija bar is hosting bad film Sundays, which if you live somewhere central as many foreigners do, means you can waste the last hours of the week away in someplace warm and welcoming.

This week it's Manos: The Hands of Fate, a 1966 film.

More music

For something more classical, pianist Lucas Debargue is performing at the Great Guild on March 9 at 7 p.m. He'll be playing Chopin and Beethoven.
