An orange alert is in effect in the eastern part of the country, while a yellow alert is in effect in central Latvia and eastern Kurzeme.
There will be more clouds in Kurzeme overnight, even a little rain in places, and it will be warmer, minimum temperature of +1 C to +5 C, while temperatures will drop to -2 C in Zemgale and western Vidzeme. The eastern part of Latvia will be even colder, places even -5 C.
According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center, the coming frost can cause serious damage or even destroy endurance plant species. Widespread areas may be affected by the damage. Plant protection measures should therefore be taken as far as possible to minimize frost effects, such as covering or watering plants in the evening before the expected frost.
Over the course of the day, clouds will increase throughout Latvia, and the sun will only shine occasionally. Maximum air temperature during the day +8 C to +13 C.
