Inclusive Latvian language guide available

The first inclusive communication handbook in Latvian was published at the end of March. Linguist, translator, and lecturer Aiga Veckalne has compiled the most important recommendations for inclusive or respectful language, as well as examples and useful links.

The guide provides a definition of inclusive language and highlights the benefits of such communication.

"Respectful communication is a growing issue and we are better able to spot when prejudices and stereotypes creep into our language or that of others. We are learning to be inclusive and non-discriminatory. It is no longer an issue we ignore," says the guide's author, linguist Aiga Veckalne.

The guide can be downloaded free of charge here.
