Small rise recorded in construction costs

Data published by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) April 26 show that in March 2024, compared to March 2023, the level of construction costs in Latvia increased by 1.9 %. 

Labor remuneration of workers increased by 6.8 %, maintenance and operational costs of machinery and equipment – by 3.5 %, while prices of building materials fell by 0.9 %.

In March 2024, compared to February, the level of construction costs rose by 0.1 %. Remuneration of workers increased by 0.7 %, maintenance and operational costs of machinery and equipment – by 0.1 %, while prices of building materials fell by 0.3 %.

In March, the average level of construction costs was mostly affected by an increase in labor remuneration to workers carrying out finishing works (roofers, plasterers, sanitary technicians and others), as well as electricians.

In Q1 2024, compared to Q1 2023, the level of construction costs rose by 1.8 %. Labor remuneration of workers increased by 6.6 %, maintenance and operational costs of machinery and equipment – by 3.6 %, while prices of building materials fell by 1.0 %.

In Q1 2024, compared to Q4 2023, the level of construction costs rose by 1.0 %. Labor remuneration of workers increased by 1.4 %, maintenance and operational costs of machinery and equipment, as well as prices of building materials rose by 0.9 %.
