The K.K. fon Stricka Villa (known in English as C. Stritzky House) will be the home of the newly formed “Willa teātris” theater group and will begin to show performances from the end of February, according to theater representatives on January 30.

The “Willa teātris” was founded in Rīga at the beginning of 2020 and chose the fon Stricka Villa because it has become a beloved concert and event venue. As a theater it will house 80 viewers and offer both new productions, performances, poetry and musical events, and also children's productions on Sundays.

“Life is too short to go to just one theater. The inspiration for the creation of a new theater was my wife Inga Alsiņa-Lasmane, her friends and colleagues,” says founder Kalvis Lasmanis.

At the end of February “Willa teātris” will perform two productions: the premiere of  “Story about MĪ…” based on the story of Nobel Prize winner Svetlana Alexandrovna Alexievich directed by Vara Piņķa, as well as the Valmiera Summer Theater Festival production “Courtyard Comes to Life” directed by Toms Treinis. March will see the premiere of Inga Alsiņa-Lasmane's performance “Putn Longing”, which will be staged by Varis Piņķis based on poems by Heli Pauliina Laaksonen.
