Latvian producer prices down on year, up on month in January

Data published by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia February 21 show that in January 2024, compared to January 2023, the average level of producer prices in industry fell by 8.1 %.

The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market decreased by 11.3 %, and prices of exported products by 4.9 %. Prices of products exported to euro area countries decreased by 5.8 % and of products exported to non-euro area countries by 4.2 %.

Price drops in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, as well as the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture) had a downward impact on the level of producer prices during the year.

In January 2024, compared to December 2023, the level of producer prices in Latvian industry increased by 0.5 %. The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market increased by 1.0 %, but prices of exported products didn’t change. Both prices of products exported to euro area countries and prices of products exported to non-euro area countries remained unchanged.
