Producer prices up 0.4% on year in Latvia

Central Statistical Bureau data published July 21 show that in June 2023, compared to June 2022, the level of producer prices in the Latvian industry increased by 0.4 %. 

Prices of products sold on the domestic market rose by 3.8 % while prices of exported products reduced by 3.6 %. Prices of products exported to euro-area countries fell by 3.7 % and of products exported to non-euro area countries by 3.5 %.

The rise in prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply as well as the manufacture of selected food products had the most significant upward impact on producer prices, while manufacturing of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture) as well as manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – downward.

In June 2023, compared May, level of producer prices in Latvian industry decreased by 1.2 %. The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market fell by 2.4 % and prices of exported products by 0.1 %. Producer prices of products exported to euro area countries dropped by 0.4 % while of products exported to non-euro area countries rose by 0.2 %.

Reduction in prices of heat and gas supply, as well as manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture), had the greatest downward impact on producer prices.
