May exports down 4.4%, imports up 2.9% on year

In May 2016, Latvia's exports declined 4.4%, while imports rose 2.9% from May 2015, resulting in a bigger trade deficit, according to data by the Central Statistics Bureau released Monday. 

However monthly exports in May rose 0.9% from April and imports increased 0.4%. Latvia's external trade balance improved slightly in May 2016 as the share of exports widened to 45.6 percent from 45.5 percent from April.
