Unemployment rate in Latvia falls after three-month standstill

Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) estimates published on October 19 show that in September 2023 actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.3 % and it has reduced by 0.2 percentage points over the month. 

Over the year actual unemployment rate fell by 0.5 percentage points.

The unemployment rate among women fell by 0.2 percentage points (down to 4.5 %) and among men by 0.1 percentage points (to 8.1 %).

The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (NVA) was 5.3 %. It has reduced by 0.2 percentage points over the month and by 0.4 percentage points over the year.

In September 2023 there were 60.4 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia (21.4 thousand women and 39.0 thousand men), which is 1.1 thousand fewer than a month ago and 5.7 thousand fewer than a year ago. During the month, the number of unemployed men reduced by 0.4 thousand and of unemployed women by 0.8 thousand.
