This year's top tourist destinations have been selected based on a vote of more than a million travelers in 172 countries.
Marbella, Spain, has come first, which has been selected as the top vacation destination by a particularly large number of Americans and Brits, the EBD says.
Marbella is followed by Monaco, Malta, Geneva, and the Georgian city of Batumi.
Riga ranked sixth, and has been recognized as the ideal destination for short rest in a city. EDB has highlighted Rīga's Art Nouveau architecture, cultural events, coffee shops, and IPA breweries.
The best tourist destinations are selected based on the quality of life, sustainable development, the availability of cultural events throughout the year, the increase in popularity on social networks, and international assessment such as inclusion on UNESCO's heritage list.
All tourism destinations in the top 20 will be advertised throughout the year, as well as the right to use the brand “Europe's best destination 2024.”
