Roadwork season begins across Latvia

Construction works have begun in 11 sections of the state roads, Latvian State Roads said April 12, calling for traffic restrictions to be reckoned with and planning additional time for journeys.

Six of the roadworks are on regional roads, two – on local roads, and three on bridges.

Major traffic restrictions are imposed on the following sections:

  • on the Ventspils-Kolka (P124) section of the road from Ventspils to Liepene, three sections of traffic lights, and speed limits of 70 and 50 km/h. The estimated time of crossing the repair section is 35 minutes;
  • on the Skrunda-Aizpute (P117) section of the motorway behind Kazdanga, one reverse section, a speed limit of 70 and 50 km/h. The estimated time of crossing the repair section is 30 minutes;
  • traffic is closed on the bridge over the Vēdzele River on the regional motorway Tukums-Kuldiga (P121). You can take a detour on by Aizstrauši-Starpiņas (V1478) and Kandava-Saldus (P109) and must count on an additional 20 minutes en route;
  • on the Smiltene-Valka (P24) section of the road from Smiltene to Blome-Birzuļi-Palsmane (V243), traffic is controlled by traffic lights, speed limit 70 and 50 km/h in three stages. Estimated time of crossing the repair section is 15 minutes.
