Kols: List Wagner Group as a terrorist organization

Latvian member of parliament and chairman of the Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee Rihards Kols (National Alliance) made his voice heard at the meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vancouver, Canada July 2, calling on member states to list the Wagner Group as a terrorist organization.

Kols pointed out that Yevgeny Prigozhin's mercenary company previously pretended to be a formally independent, "private military company" but that the Kremlin has now admitted that it has been funding the Wagner Group for at least a year, thus making Russia a state sponsor of terrorism.

"Well I guess we have found out [from] President Putin himself a few days ago, stating that the Wagner Group is entirely funded by Russian Federation taxpayers' money," said Kols.

Kols noted that several countries have already listed Wagner as a terrorist organization but urged others to follow suit.

"I would call on all OSCE member states to do the same, for the parliaments to do the same. It is a terrorist organization, it's not only causing havoc right now in eastern Ukraine, it causes it in different conflicts across the world, be it Africa, South America, you name it," said Kols.
