Following an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Russia were terminated and the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow was evacuated. The embassy’s team has now arrived in Rīga.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed his respect for, and admiration of the Ukrainian people for their courage and heroic resistance to Russia’s aggression, and he once again pledged a strong and unwavering support by Latvia in both international and bilateral formats.
The officials then discussed the assistance provided by Latvia to Ukraine both by deliveries of the necessary supplies to Ukraine, and by receiving in Latvia and providing accommodation to Ukrainian people affected by the war.
The Ukrainian and Latvian diplomats thanked the Rīga City Council, the State Border Guard, and the State Police for professional cooperation in support of the arrival of the Ukrainian diplomats and their stay in Latvia.
