Cabinet roadshow rolls into Daugavpils

Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis tool his cabinet on an awayday May 16, holding a cabinet session in Latvia's second largest city, Daugavpils. 

The session saw various ministers presenting ideas of importance to Latgale region and stressing both the integral role of the region and that efforts need to be stepped up to improve the economic situation in what is one of the European Union's poorest regions.

"It's very important to promote and motivate entrepreneurs to modernize and expand production by investing in innovation and development," said Economics Minister Arvils Aseradens in one of the presentations.

The PM also took the opportunity to hand out various awards to civic leaders, business figures teachers and students at Daugavpils University.
