A total of 1,005 inhabitants in all regions of Latvia were surveyed. The survey took place between June 7 and 11.
The election of Rinkēvičs was valued as highly positive by 23.8% of the population, and 23.8% more assess it as rather positive. In the meantime, 24.2% of those surveyed say their attitude is very negative. Another 15.7% say it is rather negative. 12.5% of those surveyed have no answer to that question.
As reported, before the election, 22% expressed their support for Rinkēvičs as president while more than a third did not support any of the three presidential candidates.
The results of the survey suggest that the attitude towards the election of Rinkēvičs to the President of Latvia varies significantly depending on the person's spoken language in the family. In particular, among respondents whose family language is Latvian, 33% and 28% of respondents, respectively, assess his election as very positive and rather positive. Meanwhile, 59% of those surveyed whose family language is Russian value the election of Rinkēvičs negatively i.e. 39% of respondents say it is very negative, but rather negative – 20% of respondents.
Respondents according to income levels also assessed the election differently. 73% of respondents with high incomes assessed the election result as positive while only 30% of low-income respondents expressed a positive assessment. More than half or a total of 52% of low-income respondents view the election of Rinkēvičs negatively.
The highest number of respondents assessing the election of Rinkēvičs positively is in the age group from 18 to 24, with 55% saying it is very positive and 17% – rather positive. Meanwhile, more than half of respondents aged 45 to 54 regard the election of Rinkēvičs overall negatively.
Depending on the electoral choice, the highest proportion of respondents supporting the election of Rinkēvičs is among the electorate of the New Unity with 96% saying it is positive.
Similarly, the outcome of the presidential elections, in general, is also well-viewed by 54% of the National Alliance voters. The National Alliance did not vote in the presidential elections held on May 31. Meanwhile, among the supporters of the United List, the election of Rinkēvičs is welcomed by a total of 42% of respondents, while a total of 41% of respondents say it is negative.
