Report unsafe locations in Rīga, municipality asks

How safe, or unsafe, are you feeling in Rīga? Starting this week, Rīga residents and guests are invited to submit information to the local government on places in the capital where safety should be improved, Latvian Television reported on June 12.

The public is invited to map out places in the city that are not safe and considered potentially dangerous, such as courtyards, bus stops, parks, street sections, or abandoned houses.

The map is available on iesaisties.riga.lv. To submit information, you must first register with the site by creating a profile or through a social network account.

"Residents are invited to mark places in their neighborhoods in Rīga where they feel unsafe and where public order and security could improve the situation," said Gaidis Balodis, spokesman for the city council's Neighborhood Population Center.

The information gathered will be submitted to the Rīga municipality for assessment and potential action.
