"Migration to a new technological platform is carried out to meet the growing security and usability challenges, as well as to ensure compliance with the requirements of the eIDAS Regulation and to further develop and improve the range of eSignature services. The existing platform has been used by LVRTC for more than five years and therefore requires significant improvements to enable the full and secure development of the solution in the future.
"Currently, the LVRTC technical team in cooperation with system developers and technology platform maintainers is carrying out preparatory work in order to complete the migration in the shortest possible time, however, it should be taken into account that such large-scale works are also associated with various technological risks and challenges, so we expect that the eSignature tools may be unavailable around the clock," said Ģirts Ozols, Chairman of the LVRTC Board.
The technological migration to the new platform will start at midnight on April 27 (night of April 26-27) and will last approximately 24 hours.
During the interruptions, it will not be possible to use eParaksts mobile and the eID card to authenticate eID and transactions at online banks, public institutions, and service providers.
The eID authentication with eSignature tools will also not work in the single sign-on module "Latvija.lv". It will also not be possible to sign documents with "eParaksts mobile", "eID" and "eParaksts" card in the portal "eParaksts.lv" and in portals and information systems where this possibility is integrated. The "eParaksts.lv" portal will be unavailable to users, as will the "eParaksts mobile" and "eParakstsLV" mobile applications.
During the interruptions, it will be possible to sign documents with an "eID card" in "eParaksts 3.0". This requires the "eParaksts 3.0" application, which can be downloaded from the "eParaksts.lv" portal before migration. The use of the "eID card" will also require the PIN information of the card and a card reader.
LVRTC noted that the eID card will function as before after the migration of the systems to the new technological platform. The eID authentication with "eParaksts mobile" on portals and systems will also work as before. However, all users will have to create a new eParaksts password before signing documents with eParaksts mobile. There is no time limit for changing the password.
LVRTC calls on citizens to be vigilant and remember that scammers can use this moment to get "eParaksts" access data from citizens.
"You can change your eParaksts password only in your eParaksts mobile app, so you should never enter your eParaksts credentials by clicking on links if you are asked to do so by text message or email," Ozols stressed.
