Latvia offers condolences over Orlando nightclub massacre

Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs, on behalf of Latvia, on Sunday offered "deepest condolences" to the people of the United States of America after a mass shooting in Orlando.

At least 50 people lost their lives and 53 others were wounded in the shooting in a nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

"On behalf of Latvia, Foreign Minister expresses heartfelt sympathy for the families and friends of those who died in the shooting and wishes a rapid recovery to the wounded," a statement by the foreign ministry said.

Riga mayor Nils Usakovs took to Twitter to express his condolences as well on behalf of the people of Riga.

Terror group Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack on a popular gay nightclub, but law enforcement in the US is still investigating the exact circumstances of the case.
