Three Latvian scientists receive For Women in Science award

Today, June 17, the “L'ORÉAL Baltic”  For Women in Science program, in cooperation with the National Academies of the Baltic States and UNESCO National Commissions, honors the recipients of the 2020 Women in Science Prize – seven talented Baltic scientists, said representative Evelīna Gaišonoka.

For their contribution to science, the €6,000 prize is received by Dr.Chem. Iveta Pugajeva, Mg.Sc.Ing. Aiga Ivdre and Mg.Sc. Chem. Ivita Bite from Latvia, Dr. Rima Budvytyte and Mg.Sc. Dominika Dapkute from Lithuania, as well as Dr. Maarja Grossberg and Sc .Lisandra Meneses from Estonia.

“L'ORÉAL Baltic” established the "For Women in Science” program in Latvia in 2005 with the support of UNESCO National Commission of Latvia, the Latvian Academy of Sciences and the honorary patron Myrtle Weaver-Freiberg. During these years, 48 scientists have received the "For Women in Science” award in Latvia, but since 2017, when the program was extended to all the Baltic States, six scientists from Lithuania and six from Estonia have received the award.
