Hold on to your hats - gales on Friday

On Friday a cyclone unusually strong for summer will bring heavy rain along with swift winds possibly causing damage in parts of Latvia, reported LSM's weather man Toms Bricis.

However on Thursday the weather will still be balmy and sunny with temperatures of +21C to +26C and rain only falling on the western Kurzeme region in the evening.

On the night to Friday it will be windy with local thunderstorms forecast and rain being particularly heavy in Kurzeme. On Friday it will only rain in isolated spots however gales will be blowing with gusts of 12-17 m/s at night and 20-22 m/s in Kurzeme on Friday evening.

Friday will be quite chilly with temperatures of +15C to +19C prevailing except in the eastern regions where slightly warmer weather is forecast.

However vacation-goers will delight at the weather on Saturday and Sunday with it mostly being sunny and temperatures reaching +18C to +23C during daytime and plunging to +10C to +15C at night.

Early next week the weather is forecast to remain changeable as sunny and bright moments are to be followed by rain and stronger gusts of wind.
