Three for the Weekend: Photography, Books, Museums

Take note – story published 4 years ago

This Saturday it's the annual Museum Night in Latvia with museums keeping their doors open throughout the night. But there's also some book- and photo-related stuff that's not to be missed.

Museum Night

This year the Museum Night is focused on the theme of "heroes", referring to the Tālavas taurētājs poem by Rūdolfs Blaumanis – it's about a mythical hero who dies warning his compatriots about the impending arrival of the enemy.

Be that as it may, there's plenty of places to visit if you're around. See the program here.

Photography, flash or otherwise

Now here's another reason to visit the Čē bar, the successor of Chomsky – a legendary, non-inclusive watering hole for aspiring intellectuals. Currently Čē has candid photos by photographer Elīna Semane on its walls – the exhibition is called A Time To Live, A Time to *uck Off – documenting the artist's "daily life, which is affected by complicated mutual relationships, mood swings, addiction to social networks and drive for constant self-representation."

Open until June 16.

It is part of the Rīga Photomonth, the program of which is available HERE

Yard sale at Robert's Books

Meanwhile the Robert's Books store is having a yard sale with titles mainly in English, but also some in German, French, Latvian, Polish available for sale starting Saturday evening.
