Latvian luger Elīna Ieva Vītola won the last women's individual race of the season of luge world cup in Sigulda on Sunday, while Kristers Aparjods was the best in the men's competition. The Latvians finished second in the relay.

Vītola was second after the first race the day before, but with her result on Sunday she secured a place on the top of the podium.

Sigita Bērziņa finished 5th, Kendija Aparjode dropped to 7th after a bad second run, and Zane Kaluma rounded off the top 12.

Later on Sunday, Kristers Aparjods achieved the best result in the men's second race and secured the overall victory, although he was outside the top three after the first race.

Gints Bērziņš finished in 6th place, while Kaspars Rinks was 9th.

In the team relay at the end of the season, Latvia was represented by all three gold medallists - Vītola, Aparjods and men's Mārtiņš Bots/Roberts Plūme, as well as women's double Anda Upīte/Zane Kaluma.

The German team won the relay, the Latvians losing by 0.141 seconds. The Americans were third in the seven-team competition.

In the overall standings, Latvia finished right behind the top three in the relay, but Germany won.

In the men's two-man competition, Bots/Plūme celebrated their third consecutive victory in Sigulda on Saturday and finished the World Cup season in 3rd place overall.
