“It was a dream-fulfillment for us that something like that can happen in Rīga, that we can pull the first championship in the world,” Aigars Nords told LTV.
Although Nords has great experience in organizing the annual Riga marathon, the world championship holds much more responsibility. The world's elite runners will come to Riga, and you can expect new world records in Latvia.
75 days before the big event, Nords was also prepared to show off the medals and running shirts. Both the official running shirt of the championship, which depicts Vilhelms Purvvītis' work "Pavasarī/In Spring", and the design of the medals have come courtesy of the Latvian National Museum of Fine Arts.
