Rīgas satiksme said that in September the number of public transport passengers increased significantly, providing for public transport at almost the same level as in early 2020 before Covid-19. However, passenger flows have now fallen by more than 40% in December compared to September. Meanwhile, compared with the data for December 2019, the drop is even 49%.
Therefore, from 16 January, a number of changes will be implemented in the timetables of the following routes:
Buses
Working days: routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 29, 30, 31, 32, 36, 37, 43, 41, 44, 46, 48, 51, 52, 53, 54, 56 and 58;
Weekends: routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 16, 18, 21, 22, 24, 29, 32, 36 and 58.
Trams
Working days: routes 1, 2, 5, 7, 10 and 11;
Weekends: routes 1, 5, 7, 10 and 11.
Trolleybuses
Working days: routes 1, 3, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 23, 25 and 27;
Weekends: routes 3, 4, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 22, 23 and 25.
It is also stipulated that the following routes will be closed while the passenger traffic remains low:
4 z and 35, 38, 59 bus routes, 3 and 9 tram routes;
On weekends, 57 bus route, trolley bus routes 1, 11, 12 and 13.
Passengers who have purchased monthly tickets on specific routes are allowed to use them on parallel routes – buses, trolleybuses and trams, without registering the journey.

Some minibus routes will also be closed from January 16 to February 7:
- 304. Stacijas laukums – Ķengarags;
- 322. Centrs – Lidosta;
- 324. Stacijas laukums- Mangaļsala;
- 337. Esplanāde -Imanta;
- 338. Imanta – Pļavnieki;
- 341. Centrs – Lidosta;
- 344. Centrs – Iļģuciems.
On weekends from 16 January to 7 February, the 300 route Stacija – Vecdaugava will not run.
On working days, the express will only run on the following routes: 300, 303, 309, 314, 316, 333, 336, 346, 363, 370 and 371.
