Four control pavilions will be built for infrastructure improvement, as well as a bus inspection terminal.
The construction of pavilions for border crossing procedures will allow the use of modern control technologies and the use of biometric data acquisition and verification, making the border crossing more convenient and faster.
VNĪ Board Chairman Renārs Griškevičs said construction works were scheduled to start by the summer of this year and to be completed by the beginning of 2022. Overall, currently EUR 17 million is being invested in the modernization of the borders of Latvia-Russia and Latvia-Belarus under the auspices of VNĪ.
