Friday in Latvia will be very warm

Latvia is likely to set a national heat record on March 15, forecasts show.

The highest air temperature on 15 March was in 2015 when it reached 12.4 degrees in Liepāja and Skulte in Limbaži municipality.

The day will be mostly cloudy, with the sun only shining through briefly.

There will be moderate southerly, south-westerly winds, gusting 12-14 meters per second along the coast.

The air temperatures will be +7 C to +13 C, the warmest in the northern and eastern parts of Kurzeme.

In Rīga it will be mostly cloudy with moderate southerly, south-westerly winds. Maximum temperatures will be +11 to +12 C. A new heat record is also likely to be set in Riga on March 15, as the highest temperature on this date was in 2015, when it reached 11.8 C.
