Starting Monday, May 17, sixteen and seventeen-year-olds can apply for their Covid-19 jab, according to Health Ministry, as reported earlier.

Young people will receive the vaccines developed by Pfizer/BioNTech. Applications are open on manavakcina.lv or phone 8989, or family doctor's practices, if the particular office has the Pfizer vaccine available.

According to the Central Statistical Bureau, there are 36,226 people of sixteen and seventeen years of age in Latvia.

In accordance with the Patients Rights law, patients aged 14 and over have the right to decide on their medical treatment. Thus, sixteen and seventeen-year olds are allowed to get the jab without parent's permission.
