500 Years of Latvian Books to be marked with major historical series

In the run-up to 2025, which will bring the 500th anniversary of the first book printed in Latvian, Latvian Radio in collaboration with the National Library of Latvia (LNB) has been broadcasting a major series titled 'Tracing the Footsteps of Books. The 500th Anniversary of Latvian Books'.

Now, that series will be availabe here on LSM in English, in text format.

The series '500 Years of Latvian Books' will explore how the Latvian language and book publishing have developed over five centuries, influencing the dynamics of knowledge, ideas and innovation in Latvia and contributing to the country's belonging to the European cultural space.

We'll be posting the first piece imminently and running several per week right through to the next stage of celebrations in 2025, so literature lovers and bibliophiles should have lots to keep them occupied in coming months.

More about the cycle of events that are planned and already under way can be discovered at this dedicated website: https://www.gramatai500.lv/.
