There are seven temporary traffic lights on the Vidzeme motorway (A2) from the turn-off to Cēsis (P20) to Rīdzene. There, drivers have been recorded driving through red traffic lights, breaking traffic rules, and endangering road safety, as well as the safety of those working on the construction site.
When offenders enter a reversing zone where two vehicles can't pass each other, it can cause even more congestion, LVC said. In addition, road construction workers and heavy machinery are working in the construction zone. Violating traffic lights endangers the safety of workers, and drivers endanger their own safety and that of their fellow passengers.
Information on all construction sections and restrictions is available on the construction map on the website of Latvijas Valsts ceļi (LVC). Please consult the map of the roadworks and plan extra travel time in case you have to cross the repair sections.
